There are very few interview experiences from non-software engineers and non-circuit design professionals, so I hope this can help our minority friends. Background: I have 10 years of experience in a semiconductor company, working as an application engineer in touch, haptics, and force sensing. Years ago, I posted a thread discussing what it means to be an application engineer in a semiconductor company.
In semiconductor companies, application engineers are often jacks-of-all-trades, like a brick in a wall, moved wherever needed, their sole purpose being to help the company sell chips to customers.
Years later, some of my application colleagues switched to coding, some to marketing, and some became real estate brokers.
